We had the best day out at Stonehenge yesterday! It was pouring with rain when we left the Pre-Prep, but as we parked the mini-buses the sun broke through and stayed with us for the rest of our visit.

We learned, not just about Stonehenge, and the theories pertaining to it, but all about the landscape in which it is placed, with Woodhenge, Picture1Durrington Walls and the River Avon being vital to the whole. I have to say that I love Stonehenge and it was so lovely to be sharing it with a group of children who proved to be so fascinated by it! In the exhibition centre, there is a reconstruction of one of the skulls which was found at Stonehenge and the children were amazed to discover that this man, though not perhaps as tall as some men who are alive now, otherwise looked very similar – rather handsome, actually, we thought! It was also interesting to wonder about the Neolithic people and their society and the fact that they were able to live and work together without any of the technology and modern comforts which we take for granted today.
